Guest: Dennis Rowland – American Jazz Vocalist

Dennis Rowland, born in Detroit, is a celebrated American jazz vocalist best known for his smooth baritone and years touring with the Count Basie Orchestra from 1977 to 1984. Influenced early by Joe Williams, Rowland carried on the Basie tradition while sharing the stage with legends such as Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Tony Bennett. His solo recordings on Concord Jazz, including Rhyme, Rhythm & Reason and Now Dig This! A Vocal Celebration of Miles Davis, earned him recognition as a leading interpreter of swing and jazz standards.

Now based in Arizona, Rowland remains a fixture in the state’s jazz community, performing regularly at local venues, festivals, and cultural events. His presence has helped strengthen Arizona’s reputation as a hub for world-class jazz talent.
